NHD Reflection

This year for NHD the topic was induvidual in history. I know I wanted to use a women since women have had a huge impact. So I deciced to use a female abolishnist. MS. Klose gave me a idea of Lucretia Mott. Lucretia was a actvist for female rights and lived in philadelphia. This excited me.I knew i wanted to do a performance since i had background knowledege of acting and performance people usually make it far. I used a lot of primary sources since Lucretia was a active speaker on women rights and slavery. I wanted to work by myself since in groups there are usually a lot of problems that occur.

Some challenges this year for NHD was getting over what i was used to. I was used to a paper since that was what i what i was used to from last year. When i did papers i was used to just writing the paper and handling it in to get graded. This year I had to write a process paper and get up in front of a class full of people. I didnt think i was going to be so nervous until i had to actually stand up and perform. Also i didnt use my time very well. I was so used to researching that i didnt use a lot of time writing my monolouge. when i began all that reseacrh was good but i should have spent more time writng it. Then i should have used more time for practing.

Next year or in 12th grade i will focus more time on putting the project together instead of all on reasearching. i think i willgo back to paper since i need to gain more writing skills since i want to go to Penn. Writing a paper for national history Day will better my skills to write. I will also pick a person that has a lot of primary sources so i can become into their heads .but this year im gald to say i made it to citys omg!!! im exicted so there is another month of revising such as adding more histoical context. but overall great nhd year.
